Tammy Harper from RRC will be leading this month's seminar. This session will cover where other jurisdictions are with adoption across Canada, an overview of the compliance paths and code articles related to Part 3 including Manitoba amendments, a discussion on best practices and lessons learned from MECB in Manitoba 2 years later and conclude with a note on the full training courses that RRC runs on the MECB.

For the past three years Tammy Harper has been an Instructor in the Civil Engineering Technologies Department at Red River College, where she teaches Code related courses as well as Management and Leadership to both the Construction Management Degree program students and the Civil Engineering Technologists.  Her role at RRC has recently been expanded to include responsibility for the Civil Department’s Industry Training Section – Technology Solutions for the Workplace.

Prior to working at Red River College, Tammy was the Chief Building Official for the Office of the Fire Commissioner for 8 years.  During that time at the OFC, Tammy was responsible for teaching code related courses and seminars for building officials, design professionals, contractors and the general public and she also worked on many code development committees at both the provincial and national level. 

Most recently Tammy was appointed as Manitoba’s representative on the CCBFC, Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes, She also served as Manitoba’s representative on the Provincial Territorial Policy Advisory Committee of Codes (PTPACC) which provides policy direction to the CCBFC on future code development, and she chaired the Code Consolidation Committee for Section 9.36 Energy Efficiency for Housing and Small Buildings. 

Tammy has a Master’s degree in Education with a specialty in Adult Education, as well as Bachelor degrees in Economics and International Development and certificates in leadership as well as her LEED AP designation.
